I already have a good set of household cleaning products, and I do a good job of cleaning. Why should I spend additional money on something that I\u2019ve already paid for with my own cleaning products?<\/p>\n<p>Well, we certainly don\u2019t want to offend you and your cleaning skills, but you may not realize a few things regarding those household cleaners you bought. Have you read those labels? Do you know what you\u2019re even getting, or what those ingredients even mean? Here are a couple of things to know that could help demystify those things for you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The More Serious the Safety Warning, the More Likely it\u2019s Hazardous to Your Health<\/strong> \u2013 You may think that these warnings are all the same. After all, there\u2019s probably not a household cleaner out there that you want your child or pet putting in its mouth. But, it\u2019s important to look at what comes after the warning on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenerchoices.org\/products.cfm?product=greencleaning\">household cleaner label<\/a>. Labels such as \u201cDanger\u201d or \u201cPoison\u201d indicate that the cleaner contains something that\u2019s poisonous, corrosive, and\/or flammable. This is something you probably don\u2019t want to breathe in or touch, let alone swallow. Also look at the labels for specifics, such as \u201cvapor harmful\u201d, or \u201ccauses burns.\u201d In addition their are some cleaning chemicals like Parabens, Exylothates, and more that are know carcinogens. Many of these same chemicals are banned in other countries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Many Chemicals Haven\u2019t Been Fully Tested<\/strong> \u2013 This means that we don\u2019t really know how some of these household cleaner ingredients affect our health and the health of our children or pets. <a href=\"http:\/\/children.webmd.com\/environmental-exposure-head2toe\/safer-cleaning-products\">WebMD<\/a> says that the harsh ingredients in household cleaners can cause health problems such as allergies, eye irritation, and airway irritation. If dirt isn\u2019t healthy, then shouldn\u2019t our cleaning products be the healthy ones?<\/li>\n<li><strong>You Don\u2019t Really Know What You\u2019re Getting<\/strong> \u2013 Federal regulation does not require that cleaning products disclose every single ingredient in them. Meaning, a consumer, such as yourself, can\u2019t really know what you\u2019re buying when you purchase a cleaning product. Also keep in mind that unlike food ingredients, the ingredients listed on cleaning products may not necessarily be listed in the relative amounts. In fact, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleanhappens.com\/allthedirt\/\">Federal Hazard Substances Act<\/a>, household cleaners are the ONLY household products that aren\u2019t required to disclose all ingredients.
